John Tobin

John was born and raised in Vancouver.  He has an indefatigable work ethic instilled by Depression-Era parents who survived "the dirty 30's" on the Prairies... In other words, he understands the value of a hard-earned dollar and the work it takes to succeed.
 
John has spent his working life in sales.  He was a top selling salesman in the automobile industry for many years and an award-winning Manager for Honda. He spent 4 years in Toronto as a "turn around" manager (bringing ailing dealerships back to profitability) for General Motors before returning to Vancouver.

John spent three years with Royal LePage in Kerrisdale before joining the top team at ReMax Select Properties in 1997. He earned his Registered Relocation Specialist designation and has consistently attained 100% Club status.  For the first 16 years of his real estate career, John was partners with his beloved sister Kilby Gibson.  Kilby died of lymphoma in August 2009, and is missed dearly.

Although a bit of a workaholic, John has been an avid golfer since he was 6 years old, and has played to as low as a 3 handicap.  He has recently obtained his scuba diving ticket.  John is a past Trustee of The Endeavour Society and the Vancouver Academy of Music and supports the Children's Miracle Network.

Kilby Gibson
 
Kilby's business background includes 15 years as a paralegal in Real Estate conveyancing, specializing in residential real estate transactions.  She has been a licensed realtor since 1984, and has been partnered with her brother, John,  for the past 16 years. She is consistantly an award-winning realtor with Re/Max Select Properties.

Active in our community, Kilby has served on the Boards of the Vancouver Academy of Music, Canadian Advisory on the Status of Women, Vancouver Bilingual Preschool, the Vancouver Art Gallery, York House School and the Non-Partisan Association.

Kilby is married to Gordon Gibson, OBC - journalist, public policy consultant, and former leader of the B.C. Liberal Party, and they have lived in Shaughnessy for 21 years. Their daughter, Paige, just graduated law school at UVic and younger daughter, Adrian, has completed her undergraduate degree at UBC and has applied for entry to Law School as well.

An unabashed animal lover, Kilby is an keen gardener, boater and beginner golfer. Kilby loves the real estate business and is grateful for the many referrals from happy past clients.
